SAXONBURG — Residents can help local children in need have a merry Christmas.

A Stuff the Cruiser event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 29 at the South Butler Community Library and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 30 at Saxonburg Coffee and Tea on West Main Street.

A Saxonburg Police Department squad car will be parked at the locations during those times, so they can be filled with new toys that have not been gift wrapped.

The collected toys will be donated to the Lighthouse Foundation in Butler, where they will be distributed on Dec. 14 to needy families in the county, according to Mayor Bill Gillespie Jr.

In addition to toys, books or winter clothing and outerwear for boys and girls will be accepted.

A flyer for the event said that benevolent borough residents last year provided more than five carloads of toys, books and clothing.
