BUTLER TWP — The Butler Township district judge’s office and the Butler County Area Agency on Aging may relocate from Butler Township.

The county commissioners on Wednesday confirmed the affected land at the Sunnyview complex off Morton Avenue may go up for sale.

The county is seeking a Realtor to list a 4.25-acre parcel with the building that houses AAA and District Judge Kevin O’Donnell’s office.

The township commissioners Monday approved the subdivision of that parcel from the county’s remaining 23.6 acres at the complex.

The county now has a third building, the government center annex, to house its departments

“Area Agency would most likely move down here,” said Commissioner Leslie Osche, board chairman.

The county is working with county court on possible sites for O’Donnell’s office if the land is eventually sold.

Tom Holman, deputy court administrator, said in an interview the district judge’s office would require 3,500 square feet.

“The court will work closely with the county to ensure anything that is rented or built would be in accordance with the requirements of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court,” Holman said.

Along with the Sunnyview Circle parcel, the county also wants a Realtor to market two other properties — 49 Old Plank Road in the township and 508 N. McKean St. in the city.

Interested Realtors have until May 5 to submit proposals.

Osche said in an interview that prospective buyers have expressed interest in the properties.

Another factor is the aging building housing AAA and the district court.

“We know the building is not going to service them forever,” she said.

Osche said the county is taking the measures now in case any prospective sales become appealing.

“It’s really sort of preliminary planning,” she said.
