An eight inch water main broke on North Washington St. in Evans City leaving residents without water for parts of the morning.
The main broke around 2 a.m., said Marty Fabian, water and sewer authority manager.
"At this point the town should have water again," he said.
Though some residents may experience lower water pressure in areas of higher elevation.
The Evans City Water and Sewer Authority has extended its boil alert advisory from 24 hours to 48 hours for residents serviced by the Authority.
Residents are not to consume any unboiled water until May 10.
Water will be safe to drink after boiled for one minute and can be cooled and stored in a covered container.
