BlueSox defeated on road
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The bottom of the seventh inning doomed Butler’s chances at a third straight Prospect League baseball win.
The BlueSox were leading host Chillicothe 2-1, but the Paints scored three runs off of Butler reliever and Knoch graduate Alex Stobert to spark a 4-2 victory Thursday night.
A single and an error preceded Chillicothe’s three runs in the seventh. Dallas Hall had an RBI-double. Chad Roberts and Dillon Dingler both drove in a run with a base hit.
Butler starting pitcher Brady Walker turned in a very good outing, allowing just one run on four hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The Sox gained an early lead when Kellen Sarver doubled in Dom Bucko in the first inning. The lead was pushed to 2-0 with Mike McGee’s single that plated Ryan Haff in the sixth.
Bucko, a Knoch graduate, played right field and was 3-for-5 at the plate.
The Paints began their rally with one run off of Walker in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Butler’s Jace Warkentien worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
The BlueSox (8-18) play at Chillicothe (14-11) again Friday.
