Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, celebrates New Year’s Eve with a family-oriented Silvester celebration, beginning with a 5-K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run and concluding with fireworks welcoming 2018 at 6 p.m., which is midnight in Germany. Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., has in its collection Asian art and pieces of German Meissen porcelain. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. PITTSBURGH

Carnegie Science Center on the North Side has reopened the Miniature Railroad and Village with the addition of a model of a Primanti Bros. shop. Messfest is Jan. 1. The Science Center will be closed New Year’s Eve. Admission is $18.95 for adults and $11.95 for children ages 3 to 12; films are extra. Call 412-237-3400 or visit CarnegieScienceCenter.org.

Children’s Museum, 10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square, will be closed New Year’s Day, but will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday. Heinz History Center, 1212 Smallman St., hosts “A Very Merry Pittsburgh,” an exhibition featuring artifacts from Kaufmann’s/Macy’s department store, Christmas decorations, and historic toys spanning the 1940s to the 2000s, through Jan. 15. The History Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except closed New Year’s Day.
