Karen L. Rettig
Karen L. Rettig, 81, of Butler, formerly of East Brady, died Friday, March 4, 2022, at her residence, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 26, 1940, in East Brady, and was the daughter of the late James E. Hicks and the late Irene Bliss Hicks.
Most recently, she was an optical receptionist for various eye doctors in the Butler area until her retirement.
Karen was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in North Oakland, Chicora, and a member of the Christian Mothers and the church choir.
She married Fred T. Rettig on June 25, 1960, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1977.
She is survived by a daughter, Kesia Jones, and her fiancé, Gary Thompson, of Slippery Rock; a son, Ryan, and Kathy Rettig of Fenelton; a special grandson, Andrew Jones of Butler; a former son-in-law, Mark, and Sandy Jones of Karns City; a sister, Judy Master of East Brady; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter; a brother; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a nephew; and an infant son and an infant daughter.

RETTIG — Friends of Karen L. Rettig, who died Friday, March 4, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022, at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Oakland, Chicora, with Father Rick Thompson.
Burial will be in St. Eusebius Catholic Cemetery in East Brady.
