Mary Thompson
Mary Jane Thompson, 88, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, surrounded by her family at Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.
Born Oct. 31, 1933, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katie (Raimondi) Comella.
She was a graduate of Butler High School.
Mary was a member of All Saints Parish at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
Mary volunteered as a Gray Lady at Butler Memorial Hospital, and also the Butler Senior Center, serving coffee and donuts in the morning.
She was employed as a clerk in the ladies' department of the former Troutman’s Department Store in Butler. Mary then became a waitress at Mark’s Diner in Butler.
Mary enjoyed bingo, gardening and camping. She and her husband traveled across the country camping, and also had a permanent site at Buttercup Campground.
Surviving is her husband of 70 years, Charles P. Thompson of Harmony.
She is also survived by two daughters, Deborah Thompson of Butler, and Toni Sexton of Butler; and a grandson, Barry Sexton and his wife, Tammie, of Baldwin, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael Comella; and a son-in-law, Barry Sexton Sr.
THOMPSON — There will be no public viewing for Mary Jane Thompson, who died Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
