Evans City officials approve sidewalks at EDCO Park Pool
EVANS CITY — New sidewalks and a French drain around the EDCO Park Pool are part of additional amenities approved by borough council Monday.
During a special meeting, council approved the items after learning additional funding was available to match the $62,000 grant awarded to the park by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The required matching funds were raised earlier this year.
“I'm very excited about all the good things that are happening and looking forward to having a brand new facility for the community to enjoy,” said John Rogers, EDCO Park board president.
The additions come as part of ongoing work to renovate the pool. Officials expect the work to be finished in time for the May 24 opening day.
“Our pool is moving along at great progress,” said Cindy Caldwell, EDCO Park manager.
While the first phase of the work is under way, fundraising for phase two, with a goal of $150,000, has begun. It will pay for additional poolside amenities, including slides.
