William Pink
William Alexander Pink, 95, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020.
Born in Union Township, Lawrence County, he was the son of Alexander John Pink and Mary Anna Schrantz. He married Rouie Delsie Metheney on July 4, 1947.
Bill was a celebrated United States Army veteran, having served in the Blood and Fire 63rd Infantry Division, 254th, Company D during World War II. He was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge and a Purple Heart.Upon completion from his Army service, he along with his brother, John, operated their own construction company. Bill later worked for the Youngstown Sheet and Tube and then Cooper Bessemer in Grove City until his retirement. During these years, he also enjoyed being a self-employed farmer.Bill had a great sense of humor and turned things into jokes whenever possible. As a storyteller, Bill talked as loudly as he laughed. He loved horses and was a softie for little kids and dogs. Intelligent and creative, he was a hard worker, a straight shooter and a true patriot with lots of friends. He will be deeply and truly missed by his family.Survivors include his wife, Delsie; two daughters, Iris L. (Ray) Niswander of Worthington, Ohio, and Carol Ann (Greg) Snyder of Grove City; daughter-in-law, Patti (Dan) Pink of Slippery Rock; two sisters, Frieda Ann Monteleone of Grove City and Frances Diana Kaplan of Los Angeles; a brother, James Patrick (Cora) Pink of Cabot; five grandchildren, Stacie (Matt) Sespico, Mandy (Jeff) Corbett, Russell (Tricia) Niswander, Douglas (Andrea) Niswander, Shannon (Steve) Bolibruck; and 18 great-grandchildren.He is preceded in death by daughter, Donna Jean McKee and her husband, Jeff; twin children, Daniel William Pink and Dianne Delsie Pink; brothers, John Edward Pink, John William Pink, Alexander John Pink Jr., and Joseph Barnhardt Pink; sisters, Louise Marie Braatz, Mary Frances Pink and Doris Lillian Miller.Pink — Due to the pandemic, there will be no public service for William Alexander Pink, who died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020.Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.Arrangements by Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock.Memorial contributions may be given to the American Disabled Veterans or St. Jude Hospital
