CRANBERRY TWP — The township was recently ranked as one of the top places for families to live in the nation.

Cranberry Township came in seventh out of the top 25 communities in the country in a study put together by HomeUnion, an online real estate investment management firm based in California.

Township manager Jerry Andree said the township consistently earns a spot in these type of rankings as a direct result of the hard work the community puts into creating a vision and then implementing the strategy to achieve that vision.

“That implementation involves our elected officials making the tough public policy decisions needed to sustain that vision and their consistent reinvestment into the community’s infrastructure,” Andree said. “That is the reason our community has been recognized nationally as a great place to live, work and play.”

HomeUnion included the most affordable Zip code in each metro area where the average school rating was in the 80th percentile or higher. For a second year in a row, Blue Springs, a suburb of Kansas City, was ranked at the top of the list with a median home price of $159,000.

The median home price in Cranberry is $274,000 and the schools scored 83.9, according to HomeUnion.
