Patton earns Titan

Athlete of Week

NEW WILMINGTON — Moniteau graduate Jacob Patton, a senior on the Westminster College men’s track and field team, has been named Titan Athlete of the Week by the college’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Patton was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Most Outstanding Performer at the league’s indoor meet, won by Westminster for the first time. He won the 60-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 8.39 seconds, was second in the pole vault and triple jump, fourth in the 400 meters.

SRU’s Johnson gets

1st team PSAC West

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University graduate student Jamiyah Johnson has been named first team All-PSAC West in women’s basketball.

Johnson led the PSAC with 14.1 rebounds per game. She was fourth in the conference with 17.1 points per game and she led all of NCAA Division II with 23 double-doubles this season.

Bercurys score win

with Blue Ivy

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Blue Ivy, trained by Bill Bercury and owned by Renee Bercury, both of Slippery Rock, won the $16,000 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace during harness racing action Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove two horses to victory. He prevailed with Kissmydanceshoes in an $8,400 Claiming Handicap Pace and with Native Liberty in a $7,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace.

Cubs boxer Adams

set for pro bout

Butler Cubs boxer Lucas Adams, 2-1 as a professional, will take on Tahlik Taylor of North Carolina in a 4-round light heavyweight bout at 7 p.m. March 12.

The match is part of a fight card in the Cathedral Room at St. Nicholas in Pittsburgh.
