The Rotary Club of Portersville-Prospect has dedicated its Rotary District 7280 project toward McConnells Mill State Park.

The group is overseeing the construction and installation of an all-purpose counter at the Kildoo Covered Picnic Shelter and updating the interpretive signs in the park's historic Grist Mill. The shelter was a previous Portersville-Prospect Rotary District Grant project.

Both the shelter and the new counter, which will be used for interpretive talks by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources's staff, will be ADA-accessible.

The estimated cost is $1,500 to $2,000, while the estimated cost for the interpretive signs is $1,653.

The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company is conducting its annual fund drive for 2019.Letters were recently mailed to all residents, businesses and property owners within the company’s service district.Those who did not receive a request in the mail, but want to donate to the fire company, should mail a donation to: Penn Twp.
