Scoop perfect yet again

Time to crow.

Another week. More perfection.

The Ol’ Scoopster went an unblemished 11-0 last week and is a sparkling 74-10 on the season.

That speaks for itself, so I won’t say another word about it.

OK. Maybe one more word.

Dominance.

Let’s see if I can keep the Scoop Train a’rollin’ this week in a slate of games with a few toss-ups involved.

On to the picks:

Hempfield 33, Butler 15 — This one actually qualifies as a toss-up for the simple fact that Butler has played better over the last couple of weeks and Hempfield is a struggling team.

But it’s at Hempfield, a tough road trip.

This may come down to which team scores first.

Pine-Richland 23, Seneca Valley 16 — The Raiders certainly have the defensive chops to keep the powerful Rams’ offense somewhat under control — which is basically holding it to 23 points.

But will Seneca Valley score enough points?

Knoch 27, Trinity 14 — It’s difficult to figure these Knights out.

With the section schedule completed, Knoch is playing out the string and hoping for some help to get into the playoffs.

In the meantime, it’ll take care of Trinity.

Mars 38, Kiski Area 12 — The Planets won earlier in the season on the strength of their defense and now their offense is rounding into form.

Scary thought for any team squaring off against Mars these days. Scary thought for Kiski.

North Catholic 48, Yough 13 — The Trojans put up 70 points last week. They won’t dent the scoreboard that profoundly this week, but they’ll certainly wrack up some crooked numbers against struggling Yough.

Freeport 42, Mount Pleasant 11 — That 0-3 start is long in the rearview mirror.

The Yellowjackets are really only a couple of plays away from being 6-1.

Mount Pleasant is no match for Freeport.

Bradford 28, Karns City 22 — The Gremlins need to win this game to make the playoffs.

That makes me want to pick Karns City, but the Owls are playing good football right now and provide a tough matchup for the Gremlins.

Moniteau 33, Punxsutawney 12 — The Warriors took a huge step forward last week, eliminating the mistakes that have dogged them this season in the second half against Saint Marys.

If they can keep the miscues at bay again, they will rout the Chucks on the road.

Redbank Valley 24, Union/A-C Valley 22 — This should be one of the more entertaining games of the week.

The Falcon Knights are on a roll and are playing well both offensively and defensively.

This may come down to who makes one more big play.

Slippery Rock 24, Oil City 19 — Another intriguing matchup, the Rockets take to the road to play the Oilers.

Oil City has running back Christian Cole, who has put up gaudy numbers so far this season.

Slippery Rock has been good at stopping the run.

It’s strength against strength.

Steel Valley 41, Summit Academy 8 — The Knights came oh so close to getting their first win of the season last week against Valley, but fell just short.

Steel Valley is a whole different animal, though.

Scoop is looking for another 11-0 week.
