Simeon L. Hardy, 82, of Oakland Township, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Lowrie Place in Butler.

Born June 10, 1939, in Butler, he was a son of the late Charles W. Hardy and Elizabeth (Salvatore) Hardy.

Simeon was a graduate of Butler High School, and had worked as a welder for the Boilermakers Local 154, from 1969, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion 117, the Elks Club, the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, and the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed racing motorcycles when he was younger, hunting, fishing, boating and traveling to Florida in the winter months.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Surviving are his wife, Margaretta (Speakman) Hardy, whom he married Aug. 20, 1988, and four daughters, Lexie (Daniel) Graham, Denise (the late Paul Miller) Miller, Sue (Michael) Domhoff and Michelle (Tony) Sabo, all of Butler; two stepchildren, Marjorie Berg of Glen Rock, Pa., and Dr. Michael Michalisin of Scranton, Pa.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

HARDY — Friends of Simeon L. Hardy, who died Wednesday, March 2, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 Saint Wendelin Road, Butler. The Rev. Matt McClain, pastor, will officiate.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
