ZELIENOPLE — Borough police have charged a Cranberry Township man accused of sending threats and disseminating an intimate image of a woman after she came to the station to report the threats.

Police received reports around 6 p.m. Feb. 18 from a woman who said Kirk Hefren, 49, of Cranberry Township had been sending her harassing and threatening messages, documents state.

She showed officers the messages from Hefren, which police said contained numerous threats, accusations of cheating and “extremely vulgar” sexual and derogatory comments.

Hefren also sent messages asking the woman to kill herself and threateningly said he'd take back money he claimed to have given her if she didn't give it back herself, documents state.

Officers advised the woman to save screenshots of any threatening messages she had received and advised her of her right to seek a protect from abuse order. She said she understood and left the station.

An hour later, she returned to the station visibly upset and said Hefren had sent an explicit image of her to her sister, documents state. She briefly showed an officer on duty the image and was advised to save the images and messages for future court proceedings. She was again advised to pursue a PFA.

Police allegedly obtained more messages sent to the woman from Hefren on Friday and filed charges Monday.

Hefren is charged with unlawful dissemination of an intimate image, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled April 2.
