Police called to dispute arrest teen for assault
A Butler teenager is accused of trying to head-butt a city police officer during an altercation late Thursday night at a home on the 200 block of East Patterson Street.
Police arrested 18-year-old Justin R. Dailey on felony assault and other charges. He was later placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.
Officers were called to the home around 11:45 p.m. for a reported civil dispute over property. While there, the teen started yelling profanity, police said.
He was told to stop his behavior, but when he didn't, police said, Patrolman William Dobson moved to arrest him.
The defendant, however, struggled with the officer's attempt to put him in handcuffs, according to charging documents.
“Dailey then turned his head and elbow towards me,” Dobson said in his affidavit, “as if he was going to head-butt me and elbow me.”
The officer managed to get out of the way and grab hold of Dailey's arms.
District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the teen on a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled May 6 at the office of District Judge William Fullerton in Butler.
