Saxonburg ends victory over CT with triple play

Saxonburg ended its 5-2 win over Center Township with a triple play Tuesday night at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler County Area Baseball League play.

Center Township had loaded the bases with no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jake Keene hit a ground ball to third baseman Andy Pipes.

Pipes stepped on third for the first out, then threw home to catcher Sean McGill, who tagged the sliding runner for the second out. McGill threw to Ben McMillin, who stepped on first base to complete the triple play and end the game.

James Flemm had three singles and three RBI for Saxonburg. Pipes added two singles, an RBI and three runs scored while Ethan Sloane had two singles and two runs scored.

Alexander Hoehn singled and scored a run for Center Township. Jake Kaltenbach had a single and RBI.

West Sunbury 17, East Butler 0 — Hunter Fitzingo tossed a two-hit shutout. Jake Jewart had a pair of doubles.

Nick Sosigian and Gage Neal had four singles each for West Sunbury while Chance Nagy had a pair of singles.

Conner Miller and Trevor Gilliland singled for East Butler.

Cranberry 3, Meridian 1 — Luke Engel struck out 12 and allowed two hits over five innings to get the win. Austin Eichenauer pitched the final two frames for the save.

Dylan Kingan drove in two runs in the fourth inning to give Cranberry the lead for good. Matt Knauer made several outstanding plays in left field.
