Murder mystery dinner show “MacDeath” on March 4 takes a playful spin on classic drama and aims to raise funds for Slippery Rock Community Library.

The dinner serves as a creative fundraiser for the library located at 465 N. Main Street Slippery Rock.

According to librarian Tiffany Frampton, Slippery Rock’s library is the only library in the county that does not receive county or state funding.

“Seventy-five percent of our budget is fundraising for general operation,” she said.

Tickets to “MacDeath” cover a cocktail hour, dinner and an entertaining show by Musical Mysteries and More in three acts at the Atrium.

“While you’re eating your salad, they’ll do the first act, and include audience participation, but it’s not mandatory. They also include musical parodies, which sets them apart from other groups,” Frampton said. “You’ll eat dinner, then have the second portion of the show, then the third with dessert.”

Audience members will have an opportunity to guess who they think committed the murder and their motive. Correct answers should receive a prize, Frampton said. Basket raffles and a 50/50 will also be featured at the event.

The goal is to sell 150 tickets to the occasion. Frampton said she’s hoping it will be a success for the library.

“This might get people involved with the library who aren’t already involved, and it reaches more than just library supporters,” she said. “That’s what we need in order to grow.”
