A Butler County man is being charged with a hate crime in Ohio after allegedly crashing his car into another vehicle in Alliance, yelling racial slurs at the other driver and leaving the scene of the crash.

Johnathan Hydock, 26, of Butler is sitting in Stark County Jail in lieu of $125,000 bail after the encounter for aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation, driving on a suspended license and stopping after accident (hit-skip).

Unable to pay the bail, Hydock will remain in jail. On Aug. 9, he pleaded not guilty during his arraignment.

According to Alliance Police, Hydock was driving on Aug. 6 with Brittany Kies, 28, in the city when he hit the rear of another car at an intersection.

Hydock drove away from the scene while allegedly yelling at the other driver, “Ain't no damage, (N-word).”

The victim followed Hydock to a nearby parking lot, where Hydock got out of his car and allegedly approached the victim with clenched fists. Hydock then allegedly went back to his car, yelling “white power.”

A police report stated Hydock began searching through his car and asked the victim, “Do you really want a problem?” Police confirmed that Hydock was looking for a handgun.

Hydock's passenger, Kies, was charged with obstructing official business. She is out on bail. After the confrontation, Hydock and Kies allegedly left the scene and the Alliance Police Department began a search for the two. On Aug. 8, Hydock turned himself in to the Alliance Police Department.
