Ella Marie Spithaler

Ella Marie Spithaler, 92, of Rochester, Pa., went home to be with the Lord Oct. 1 at Passavant Community in Zelienople.

Marie was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Zion, Ill. She was the daughter of John and Julia Havanas Powell.

Marie was a graduate of Ambridge High School and then was employed as a secretary at J & L Steel. She then met the love of her life, Ralph R. Spithaler from Mars, and they married in 1946.

Marie's greatest joys were her strong faith and being a devoted mother. She took pride in being a homemaker, decorating her house and cooking delicious meals.

Marie was a member of the Beaver Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Her family was very special to her.

Marie is survived by four children; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her daughters, Bobbie Slingluff of Center Township and her children, Glenn (Jennifer) Booth, Jamie (John) Middleton, Christi (Res) Batamula and Jen (Jon) Stephenson, and Lynn Seethaler and her daughter, Sara Seethaler; her sons, Dennis (Rita) Shaler, and Richard (Krisann) Shaler and their children, Samantha and Seth Shaler; and her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Peter, Daniel and Elizabeth Booth, Jackson and Julian Middleton, Isaac and Jaden Batamula, and Morgan, Noah, Mackenna and Khloe Brucker.

Also surviving are one sister, Ruth Minkus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years in 2013; and her six brothers, Leonard, Wilbur, Ernie, Lawrence, Richard and Gerald.

SPITHALER — As per her wishes, there will be no visitation for Ella Marie Spithaler, who died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.A private family service was held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at the Seaman Chapel with Pastor Ralph Fogal officiating.The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Mountain Laurel at Passavant Community for their loving care. They would also like to thank the Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassion and love.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Passavant Benevolent Fund, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063, or Good Samaritan Hospice, c/o Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
