Zavidny

Dorothy Mae Zavidny, 64, of Prospect, passed away at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022.

She was born in Pittsburgh, on Sept. 27, 1957, to Richard Edgar Hartzell and Margaret Mae Weaver Hartzell.

She had graduated from Seneca Valley High School, and later from Butler County Community College.

When her children were younger, she enjoyed taking them camping. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Christina M. Zavidny (Chester “C.J.” Zinni) of Slippery Rock, and Melissa A. Zavidny Shaffer (Walter R. Shaffer) of Slippery Rock; her son, William M. (Amanda L.) Zavidny of Cabot; four brothers; 11 sisters; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

ZAVIDNY — Family of Dorothy Mae Zavidny, who died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

A funeral service led by the Rev. James Lewis of Butler will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County.
