FAIRVIEW TWP — Two children were injured late Friday night after falling out of the back of a pickup truck driving along Spruce Road.

State police said the girls, ages 9 and 11, both of Karns City, fell off the tailgate of the truck while it was driving up a hill east of Butternut Road at 11:52 p.m.

The 11-year-old suffered moderate injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. The 9-year-old was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was not identified by police. It is unknown if any charges were filed.
