Ethel Marie Steele, 97, of North Buffalo Township passed away Wednesday from the Fair Winds Manor in Sarver. God took Ethel’s hand and together they walked hand-in-hand into heaven, forever to be one of His precious angels.

Ethel was born Oct. 22, 1917. She was a lady who never acted her age, her best quality.

She was everyone’s favorite for her humor and love no matter where she went.

Ethel was the loving widow of Leslie C. Steele, who died on April 14, 2006. They were married for 69 years.

She is survived by her son, Vernon Dale Steele of Slate Lick, who took care of Ethel until she went to Fair Winds Manor; her two grandsons, Dale Steele of Slate Lick and his girlfriend, Tonya, and Michael Steele and Ann Miller of Ford City; her two granddaughters, Melanie Witmer and Leonard McGuire of Saxonburg and Lori Thomas of Saxonburg, who Ethel adopted in recent years; her four great-grandchildren, Dawson Steele, Shawnee Steele, Kalie Steele, and Dakota Thomas; her two sisters, Betty Brocious of Greys Colonial Manor and Sue and Robert Stitt of Shelocta; her brother, Ralston and Judy Steele of Butler, and her numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert K. Steele, and her three sisters, Alice Gallo, Edith Mauthe and June Steele.

Steele— The family and friends of Ethel Marie Steele, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 bear St., Worthington.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jonathan Hill officiating.
