Sara Zarnick

Sara Zarnick

Sara Jane Ralston Zarnick, 84, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2021, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, with her daughter by her side after a lingering illness.

Sara was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Bullion, Pa., to Mary Farren Ralston and Merle Ralston.

She is survived by three sisters: Marilyn (Ginger) and Bill Zarnick of Eau Claire, Vera and Gary Hamil of Cabot, and Joanne and Bill Foreback of Butler.

Sara was married to Clarence (Buddy) P. Zarnick in January of 1971, until his passing on June 26, 1999.

Sara’s most favorite things were spending time with her family, whether it be a day out with her sisters for lunch and ice cream or holiday time with family. She loved to do word-search puzzles and would boast about how many she completed in a day. Her newest hobby was coloring. She so loved seeing her completed artwork.

Sara is survived by a daughter, Darla Croyle, and her partner, Rick Harkcom, of Central City, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Ashley Aranda and her husband, Eddie, of Rockville Centre, N.Y., and Michael Croyle of Dayton, Pa.

Also loved by Sara are her three grandsons, Finnegan, Calloway and Huntley. She loved her boys and enjoyed time spent with them.

Sara is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Of them all, her most special nieces are Pam Fisher and Debbie Dallos, who were always there for her and loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buddy Zarnick; her son, Michael; her sister, Jean; her brother, Jack; her brothers-in-law, Gary Hamil, Bill Zarnick and Bill Foreback; and her nephew, Jeff Foreback.

The family of Sara would like to give their deepest gratitude to Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Cardinal Wing Place for their devotion to her. So many people showed Sara such love and care during her time at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially her most favorite and most caring CNA, Tracey Graham.

A special thank you also to Grane Hospice for their care and support to Sara and her family in her final days at Sunnyview.
