Lyric Beth Ackelson

Lyric Beth Ackelson, 18, of Butler was crowned Miss Saxonburg 2012.

The daughter of Beth and Mike Ackelson, she just graduated from Butler High School and will be attending Slippery Rock University, majoring in music therapy. Ackelson was also Little Miss Saxonburg 2001.

The first runner-up was Stacy Arner of Mars.

Sarah Wilson, 19, of Portersville was named 2012 Butler Fair Queen.2011 Butler Fair Queen Laura Mertick crowned her successor.Wilson will represent the fair at community events and parades. She will also reign over activities during the 157th Big Butler Fair from June 29 to July 7.Wilson is a sophomore at the University of Akron, where she is pursuing a degree in nursing.She is the daughter of Dave and Elizabeth Wilson of Portersville.Brittany Foertsch was crowned Butler Fair Princess. She is the daughter of James and Denise Foertsch of Jefferson Township.Carissa Aleva was named Butler Fair Ambassador. She is the daughter of Robert and Yolonda Aleva of Cranberry Township.———<B>Event raises money for St. Barnabas</B>GIBSONIA — The 25th annual St. Barnabas Charitable Golf Open on June 4 at the Butler Country Club to benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund raised $115,073.Winning the tournament's Bell Trophy were Bob Crnjarich, Rich Crnjarich, Harry Klucher and Jeff Kreutzer.———Linda Mueller, E. Isovitch, Leroy Bunyan and Mark Cunningham were the Chicora American Legion Memorial Day fundraiser winners.———The Butler Little Theatre brought to a close its 71st season June 9 with its annual business meeting and social.The evening celebrated the 2011-2012 season and the five shows that were staged, including “The Trip to Bountiful,” “Christmas Belles,” “The Smell of the Kill,” “Rounding Third” and “Is He Dead.”Volunteers were honored with awards for their outstanding participation including Amy Bole, Bonnie Cahill, Jeff Carey, Wynne Jenkins, Marilyn Johnston, Kay Lewis, Lester Malizia, Dan McCarty, Kate Moore, Michelina Pollini, Terri Schultz and Aaron Zimmerman.Other highlights included the presentation of the Board of Directors Award to Shirley Ann Minehart and the election of Becky Plymale, Art Black, Stephanie Kobil, Ron Lockwood, and Dan McCarty to the BLT Board of Directors.———On June 14, the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club winners were:First: Lorraine Worsley and Barbara NoranteSecond: David Ruppert and Alan Leaver.
