G. Edward Fleming

G. Edward Fleming, 90, of West Sunbury passed away at 4:35 a.m. Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Ed was born on May 23, 1926, in Parkersburg, W.Va.

He was the son of the late Cecil Dwight Fleming and the late Myrtle Bell Fleming.

He was a member of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, where he served as an elder for over 30 years.

He retired from Armco, now AK Steel, where he was a carpenter.

Ed is survived by his wife, Rita Mae Carbin Fleming, who he married Feb. 20, 1954; two daughters, Elaine (Thomas) Ambuster of Butler and Margaret “Peggy” Burkett of Chicora; two sons, Glenn Fleming and James (Annie) Fleming, both of West Sunbury; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William (Imogene) Elson of Florida, Mrs. Larry (Shirley) Mattox of Ohio and Mrs. David (Phyllis) Moon of Greenville; one brother, Earl Fleming of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Burkett Jr., and his great-grandson, Dylan.

FLEMING — The family of G. Edward Fleming, who died Saturday, April 8, 2017, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church with the Rev. Richard Jenks, his pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
