Gene P. Rodgers
Gene P. Rodgers Sr., 88, of Butler, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 26, 2021, in the comfort of his home.
Born July 30, 1932, in Butler, he was a son of the late Herman M. Rodgers Sr. and Irene (Mooney) Rodgers.
Gene was a 1950 graduate of Butler High School, and had worked for the Armco Steel Plant in Butler as a foreman in processing maintenance and then as a field engineer. He retired in 1991 following 39 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, and was an avid sports fan, and he especially followed the Pittsburgh teams. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and time at his home in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Surviving are his children, Gene P. (Shellie) Rodgers Jr. of Butler, Patrick (Lori) Rodgers of Butler, and Mary (John) McKinney of Renfrew; six grandchildren, Randy (Denise) Bowser of Butler, Patrick Rodgers Jr. of Butler, Zachary Rodgers of Butler, Marcia (Daniel) Wyant of New Castle, Matthew (Roxanna) DeLess of Butler, and Ashley (Anshu) Mangotra of Painesville, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren, Mekenzie, Cameron and Madison Wyant, and Ethan and Ty DeLess.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Halahan) Rodgers, whom he married Nov. 22, 1951, and who passed away on April 15, 1976; one daughter, Patricia J. Rodgers Bowser; two brothers, Herman “Chick” Rodgers Jr. and John F. Rodgers; and one sister, Eileen Worth.
RODGERS — Private services for Gene P. Rodgers Sr., who died Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, will be held for his family.
Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery in Butler.
Arrangements are being completed by Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
