BUTLER TWP — David Cord, who will be VA Butler Healthcare's new director on Nov. 15, will host a town-hall meeting on Nov. 16 for veterans and the public.

The meeting will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the VA Building 1, Room 403C, 325 New Castle Road.

Anyone can attend to listen and to ask questions.

Cord said in a statement, “It is a sincere honor that I have the opportunity to lead VA Butler Healthcare.

“I look forward to working with VA Butler leadership and their dedicated staff, veteran's representatives, congressional offices, the community, and most importantly, our veterans, to continue to provide the high quality care Butler is known for.”

ZELIENOPLE — A Zelienople resident's history book was released officially Monday.“Images of America — Zelienople” is a 128-page photography-history book by Tom Nesbitt for the Zelienople Historical Society.Nesbitt created the book after months of research and the scanning of 222 black-and-white photographs from the borough's earliest days to the 1970s.The book will be at the Passavant House at 243 S. Main St. from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Nesbitt will sign all copies.All proceeds go to the historical society, not to Nesbitt.This book was published in cooperation with Arcadia Publishing, which has produced thousands of historical titles about small towns in America.

BOGGS TWP, Armstrong County — State police in Kittanning say a Boggs Township woman had more than $13,000 worth of horse tack stolen on Sunday.Police say the items were taken from a barn on the 200 block of Overlook Lane. They include two English-style saddles, four Western-style saddles, five show halters, an English-style breast collar and head stall, a blue saddle pad, six lead ropes, two English bridles, two quad tires and a bag with miscellaneous horse care items.Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Kittanning barracks at 724-543-2011.
