Dolly E. Littlejohn, 77, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 10, 1943, in Binghamton, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late William Anderson and the late Annabelle Anderson.

Dolly was a graduate of Blue Ridge High School.She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where she worked three years in labor and delivery.Dolly enjoyed spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren, who were the center of her life.She was an award winning poet, recognized by Barbara Bush for her work. Dolly's works were also widely known throughout the entertainment industry. Some of her writings were even composed into songs.She was a member of Whitestown Road Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband, Carl Wayne Littlejohn, whom she married on Oct. 21, 1965; two sons, Stephen (Lisa) Littlejohn of Lyndora, and Christopher (Shawna) Littlejohn of Butler; six grandchildren, Brendon Littlejohn, Hayden Littlejohn, Elizabeth Littlejohn, Brody Littlejohn, Austin Erskine and Samantha (Corey) Melhorn; two sisters, Anna Acker of Windsor, N.Y., and Betty Burke of Windsor, N.Y.; one niece, Cathy Berish of Aurora, Colo.; and one great-niece, Jamie Ferguson of Colorado.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Berish; and two brothers, Richard Anderson and David Anderson.LITTLEJOHN — Friends of Dolly E. Littlejohn, who died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Hurd of Whitestown Road Baptist Church officiating.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117, American Legion Post 778 and VFW Post 249 will conduct military services at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park following funeral services.Entombment will take place at The Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
