Rock men win wild opener
The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team showed toughness on the road during a 65-59 win over Virginia State University in the PSAC-CIAA Challenge Friday night in Ettrick, Va.
The Rock and Trojans were tied 12 different times before SRU pulled away for a season-opening win. SRU led 37-33 at halftime.
Malcolm Richardson scored a game-high 21 points for The Rock.
Cornelius Brown recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds for SRU. The Rock shot 35.4 percent (23-of-65) from the field and 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from beyond the arc.
SRU will take on St. Augustine's Saturday.
