SLIPPERY ROCK — Senior guard Erica Aiello and junior guard Lexi Carpenter scored 14 points each Saturday as the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team defeated Chowan, 64-62, at Morrow Field House.

The Rock women are off to their first 2-0 start since the 1997-98 season.

Carpenter had five rebounds, Aiello three assists and three steals.

St. Augustine's 60, SRU (men) 50 — The Rock (1-1) received 19 points and eight rebounds from Cornelius Brown in dropping this Tip-Off Tournament game at Virginia State.

Both SRU teams resume play Wednesday at Edinboro in PSAC West openers.
