City police check report of assault on school bus
Butler police are investigating an alleged assault of a 14-year-old girl on a school bus Monday afternoon.
The girl, who was not identified, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital following the altercation. The extent of any injuries was not immediately known.
The teenager was on her way home when she and another student got into an argument, police said. The other student “struck” the girl, according to a police report.
The girl’s mother, who lives on Wayne Street, notified authorities about 3:20 p.m. when her daughter got home. She reported that her child was “assaulted” on the bus, according to the Butler County 911 center.
Butler Fire Department emergency medical technicians examined the girl before a Butler Ambulance Service crew took her to Butler Memorial.
Police released no other information about their investigation.
Butler School District Superintendent Dale R. Lumley said it is district policy not to release information about juveniles. He said any allegations would be investigated by the students’ school, but the findings would not be made public.
