Sherwell D. “Pete” Christie, 83, of Parker passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at home.

Pete was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Hilliards; he was the son of the late Howard K. and Devona Stevens Christie.

Pete met the love of his life, Theresa F. Larson, in Long Beach, Calif., while he was stationed there in the Navy, proudly serving his country. The couple married on Jan. 17, 1957, and together had three children Steve, Robin and Rita. Theresa passed away Aug. 20, 2020, and Pete missed her dearly.

Pete was self-employed and drove Tri-Axle in the local area hauling coal. After retiring, Pete drove for Hunter’s in Eau Claire, moving trucks from store to store. He enjoyed driving and the friendships he made over the years with his fellow drivers. He was a member of the American Legion Post 243 in West Sunbury. He was a lifelong member of the Snowmobile Club in Ridgeville. Pete and Theresa loved to travel, especially to Florida to fish. Pete cherished his family. He looked forward to his house being filled full of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Robin A. Christie of Eau Claire and Rita J. Covert, and her husband, John, of Boyers; his grandchildren, Dan J. Staab Jr., Kristy Stewart, and her husband, Chris, Justin Covert, and his wife, Juliana, and Kayla Covert; his great-grandchildren, Alexandra Stewart, Beau Stewart, Briele Covert, and Noah Rowland; his brothers and sisters, Dixie Jackson and husband, Don, Richard Christie and his wife, Carol, Howard Christie and his wife, Judy, Lana Toth and her husband, Bruce, and Jody Campbell and her husband, Pete.

Pete was welcomed into heaven by his parents, his loving wife,Theresa; his son, Steven S. Christie; his nephew, Jeffrey A. Christie; and his niece, Darla Christie Reese.

CHRISTIE — Family of Sherwell D. “Pete” Christie, who died Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, will welcome friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at LARRY E. MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville.

Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Morse, officiating the service.

After the funeral service, everyone is invited back for a meal at the Snowmobile Club of Ridgeway, 345 Old Brick Road, Hilliards.

Burial will take place at Rosewood Cemetery.
