BC3 golf outing raises $115,000 in scholarship funds

BUTLER TWP — A recent golf outing that raises funds for the Butler County Community College Education Foundation raised the most money in its 26-year history.

The 2021 single-year record of $115,000 broke the previous marks of $100,000 set in 2020 and $95,000 in 2019.

The outing attracted 29 teams from six western Pennsylvania counties and was held for the 11th consecutive year at Olde Stonewall Golf Club. Since 1996, the event has raised more than $1.2 million in unrestricted funds to support scholarships and opportunities beyond the classroom at BC3.

A foursome representing NexTier Bank won the scramble format by shooting 17-under-par. Ron Germani, Chad Tate, John Birckbichler and Scott Schaefer comprised that team.

Finishing in second at 15-under was a foursome representing the Nonprofit Development Corp. — Chris Lunn, Nelson Johnson, Zach Carlino and Adam Hartwig.

Closest to the pin winners were John Cowan on the 159-yard No. 5 hole, Jeff Goldinger on the 150-yard No. 7, Mike Davidson on the 164-yard No. 14 and Michael Hook on the 190-yard No. 15.

Jeff Varga had the longest drive on the 427-yard No. 10, Steve Kusnir the longest putt on No. 18.
