DETROIT — Francisco Liriano will not make his scheduled start today against the Detroit Tigers because of discomfort in his right hamstring.

It is unclear how Liriano hurt the hamstring. Ryan Vogelsong will start in his place against the Tigers at PNC Park.

Liriano struck out 10 in six scoreless innings on Opening Day. Against the Reds Friday, he allowed three runs in five innings. Liriano has walked nine batters in 11 innings and thrown nearly as many balls (87) as strikes (97).

Vogelsong was the odd man out of the rotation at the end of spring training. He relieved Liriano on Friday, putting him on turn to start today.
