The Butler and Freeport high school football teams will be idle this week.

Freeport's game last Friday against Valley was canceled because of a positive COVID-19 test by one of its coaches.

That has also forced the cancelation of this Friday's game against East Allegheny.

Butler's game against McDowell Friday was also canceled.

McDowell has shut down all of its sports because of a positive coronavirus test.

The Golden Tornado were trying to schedule another game this week, but could not find an opponent.

Butler is scheduled to host Erie Oct. 16.
