Freeport grad Bianco MVP of BC3 Early Bird Tournament

Tournament MVP and Freeport graduate Brittney Bianco had 43 assists as the Butler County Community College volleyball team won its Early Bird Tournament with four wins.

After sweeping Lehigh Carbon Community College, Allegany College of Maryland and Jamestown Community College, the Pioneers beat nationally ranked Northampton Community College 23-25, 25-19, 15-13.

Butler graduate Baylee Verner added 22 kills, 17 digs and nine blocks, Seneca Valley grad Mary Romano pitched in 19 kills and Grove City High grad Belle Chiodo had 31 digs for BC3 (4-0).

Lake Erie College scored the only goal of the game in the 60th minute to topple the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.

The goal was scored by Andrew Bucur on a penalty kick.

American International's Katie Lombardozzi scored with less than two minutes remaining to edge the Slippery Rock University field hockey team, 2-1, Sunday.

Megan McKay scored the only goal for The Rock.
