Pioneer softball now 9-1

Saydie Moore singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in four runs in the Butler County Community College softball team’s 14-0 win over Garrett County (Md.) Community College in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Nicole Houk added a double, triple, two runs and two RBI in support of winning pitcher Jessi Reed, who struck out seven in five innings.

In the second game, Houk blasted her fourth home run of the season and scored four times as the Pioneers rolled 22-1.

Ashley Coon had a pair of doubles, a triple, two runs and three RBI while Alexis Vogan had three hits, scored twice and drove in two.

Reed was again the winning pitcher with six strikeouts in four innings for the Pioneers (9-1).

Baseball

BC3 managed just three hits in a 6-1 loss to Penn State-Beaver.

Aaron Marterella singled and collected a run batted in for the Pioneers.
