CRANBERRY TWP — The search for the best way to utilize space inside the administrative offices at the township municipal center took another step forward Thursday.

During a meeting of township supervisors, the board voted to spend $20,000 for Perkins Eastman architect firm to produce conceptual architectural services for the project.

In September, the board spent $35,000 with JLL, a real estate services company, to evaluate how to better utilize the offices. Officials said space was becoming an issue, which led to the evaluation.

The evaluation included looking at how various departments work and interact, and whether the space was being used appropriately. Officials also looked at if the offices had enough meeting rooms, conference rooms and if they were sized appropriately.

The evaluation was completed last year, and now officials with Perkins Eastman will take the information gathered and create a conceptual layout and cost estimate to implement the recommendations.

Also Thursday, supervisors paid $562,845.20 for replacement of a traffic signal at Route 19 and St. Francis Way.

In May, the signal collapsed and fell in the intersection. A small dump truck passing underneath at the time pulled tight on the cable and pulled the pole down.

A temporary signal has been in place since then, officials said. The cost will be covered by PennDOT's Green Light-Go municipal signal partnership program.
