SRU swept at Indiana

INDIANA — Slippery Rock University’s bats showed up, but the Rock baseball team dropped a doubleheader Saturday at Indiana (Pa.) regardless.

IUP (13-7, 9-7) won the games by scores of 12-11 and 13-8. SRU slipped to 12-12, 9-7.

The Rock had swept a twinbill from IUP Friday at Critchfield Park.

Luca Fuscardo led The Rock offensively, going 5-for-9 with three RBI, three runs scored and his fourth home run of the season. He improved his average to .442 on the season and is riding a 10-game hitting streak.

Christian Porterfield and James Divosevic also enjoyed five-hit days for SRU. Porterfield hit his fourth home run of the year and Divosevic scored four runs.

Tyler Walters had six RBI in the twinbill and leads the team with 38.

Butler graduate Wyatt Daugherty took the loss in Game 1, allowing three runs in 1.2 innings. It was his first rough outing of the season.

The Rock hosts Bloomsburg in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday.
