1 dead in Pgh. high-rise fire this morning
PITTSBURGH — Arson and homicide investigators were on the scene after a woman died in a high-rise apartment fire in downtown Pittsburgh that also saw at least two other residents and two firefighters treated by medical crews.
Fire Chief Darryl Jones offered no details on the woman who died at Midtown Towers, a 17-story building that houses apartments on its upper floors and a 7-Eleven store on its ground floor.
Jones says more than 100 residents had to be evacuated. The fire was reported in a unit on the sixth floor just after 3 a.m. today.
