Pirates, Wright ink minor league deal
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed pitcher Steven Wright to a minor league contract with an invitation to big league camp.
Wright, 36, is 24-16 with a 3.86 earned run average and 271 strikeouts in 81 career appearances over seven seasons with the Boston Red Sox. He did not pitch at all last year and made six appearances in 2019 before serving an 80-game suspension.
A knuckleball pitcher, Wright won 13 games in 2016 and made the American League all-star team.
