SRU survives at home, 80-77
SLIPPERY ROCK — Khyree Wooten scored 18 points and snared seven rebounds Sunday as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team held off Daemen, 80-77, at Morrow Field House.
The Rock (4-2) remained unbeaten in non-conference play this season. SRU is 4-0 outside of the PSAC.
Micah Till contributed 16 points in 22 minutes of action as he was plagued by foul trouble. Brandon Simmons had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Andrew Sischo paced Daemen with 24 points and nine rebounds. Jeff Redban added 15 points on five 3-pointers.
The Rock men don’t return home until Dec. 10 vs. Carlow.
Walsh 79, SRU (women) 68
The Rock (3-3) saw its three-game winning streak snapped with this Saturday loss at Morrow Field House. Ciara Patterson scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds to pace SRU.
Brooke Hinderliter scored 13 points while Madison Johnson contributed 13 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson produced six points, seven rebounds and three assists coming off the bench.
Both SRU teams hit the road next weekend, traveling to Lock Haven on Saturday and Bloomsburg Sunday.
SRU’s women don’t play at home again until Dec. 19 against West Virginia Weseyan.
