Attorney enters county race

A Middlesex Township attorney has entered the race for Butler County commissioner.

Margaret Abersold is seeking one of two Republican nominations in the May 17 primary.

She turned in her nominating petition by the filing deadline of Tuesday.

Abersold, 53, joins five other candidates on the Republican ballot.

Along with incumbent Dale Pinkerton, the other Republicans are Dr. William DiCuccio, medical director of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Bill McCarrier, a former county commissioner; Jeff Smith, executive director of the Butler County Council of Governments; and Kim Geyer, the Mars School Board president.

One person who won’t be on the GOP ballot is Mark Lux, the Clay Township man who previously announced his candidacy.

He did not turn in a nominating petition to the Butler County Elections Bureau.

Three Democrats are in the hunt for two party nominations. Joining incumbent Jim Lokhaiser are Jerry Johnston, a radio and television actor, and Jim Eckstein, a contractor.
