Shirley L. Fell

Shirley L. Fell

Shirley L. Fell, 87, lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on March 22, 2021, at her home surrounded by her devoted husband and loving family.

She was the wife of Bernard J. Fell, with whom she celebrated more than 63 years of marriage.

She attended John Marshall High School in Cleveland and was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

On Nov. 23, 1957, she married Bernard, and they raised four children. In addition, they hosted several international exchange students through the American Field Service (AFS), including Aury Tovar, Sissel Vollan and Annika Abrahamson.

Shirley had a fun-loving spirit, wonderful smile and a contagious laugh. She loved to travel and camp with her husband and family. She and Bernard were blessed with many enjoyable years of camping with Bernard’s twin brother and sister-in-law, traveling across the United States.

Shirley was very active in the United Methodist Church, most recently at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Slippery Rock.

In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her children, Debby (Luke) Fritz of Valencia; Lisa (Andrew) Ecklund of Coatesville, Pa.; Brian (Antonie) Fell of Butler; and Scott Fell of Tionesta; six grandchildren, Meghan (Ian) Capcara, Matthew Fritz, Emily Ecklund, Luigi Fell, William Fell and Sophie Fell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
