The Prospect Area Preservation Society will sponsor its third annual Rube's Run, a 5K road race, on July 31.
The event commemorates baseball pitching legend Rube Waddell, who grew up in Prospect.
The event is open to runners and walkers. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Moraine Elementary School on Main Street in Prospect. The race begins at 8:30. There will be a children's race at 9:15.

While the race results are being tabulated, participants can enjoy an old-fashioned baseball breakfast of hotdogs, popcorn and lemonade.

PITTSBURGH - Restricted free agent Matt Bradley, one of only four Penguins to play every game last season, has re-signed with Pittsburgh.Bradley, who came to the Penguins last season in a trade with the San Jose Sharks, was one of 18 restricted free agents the Penguins have given offers to.Bradley, 26, made $467,500 last season. Under union rules, the Penguins had to offer raises of at least 10 percent to him and the other restricted free agents.Drafted in 1996 by San Jose, Bradley had seven goals and nine assists last season. He has scored 19 goals and had 26 assists in 203 NHL games with San Jose and Pittsburgh.
The Rock Solid 15-and-under AAU girls basketball team, which is based in Slippery Rock, won the Penn State University Blue Chip Tournament recently.Rock Solid won all six of its games handily. The team is leaving today for the AAU Nationals at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.Team members include Jence Rhoads, Amy Achesinski, Megan Spangler, Jalessa Sams, Julie Molloy, Nicole Cherry, Abby Basta, Casey McCaffrey, Sheena Aden and Julie Ehrman.
