HAMPTON TWP, Allegheny County — The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will have its 15th annual Pittsburgh Blues Festival, the Food Bank's largest annual fundraiser, July 24 to 26 at Hartwood Acres.The musical line-up for the weekend includes Eric Lindell, Cyril Neville Tribe 13, the Neville Brothers, Los Lobos, Shannon Curfman, Shawn Kellerman, Curtis Salgado, Robert Cray, Glen Pavone & the Cyclones, Jill West & Blues Attack, Eugene & the Nightcrawlers, and the Jimmy Adler Band.Admission on July 24 is free with the donation of a bag of non-perishable groceries for the Food Bank.Tickets for Saturday and Sunday are $25 each day. PITTSBURGH — The 2009 Pittsburgh International Children's Festival is set for May 13 to 17 at downtown venues.The five-day event will feature U.S. premieres, interactive performances and free activities at various theaters and sites in Oakland as well as Schenley Plaza.Staged shows include companies from the Republic of Congo, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands; classic books turned into stage productions, "Good Night Moon" and "The Runaway Bunny;" and the world premiere of "Harmony Street" by local artists Resonance Percussion.Tickets are required for admission to the shows and can be purchased in advance by calling 412-456-6666.Free performances will be held at the stage located in Schenley Plaza under the round tent.

FREEPORT — "Massey Harbison Indian Captive" will be presented May 22 on the anniversary of her abduction May 22, 1792.Massey Harbison was taken captive from her cabin by a band of raiding Indians in 1792. She was forced to walk barefoot and pregnant from the Westmoreland side of the Allegheny River near Freeport to an Indian Fort at the current day juncture of routes 422, 38 and 68 in Butler County. After three days of captivity Massey escaped and walked to her rescue near current-day Pittsburgh.Starting at noon May 22 in the River Forest Golf Club House, there will be a luncheon and multimedia dramatic reading and lecture about the local heroine as performed by Janet Pazzynski of Pittsburgh and Drenda Gostkowski of Winfield Township.A walking tour to the site of Massey's abduction and the site of the settler's fort Reed's Station will follow the luncheon and lecture.The approximate schedule is lunch from noon to 1 p.m., presentation from 1 to 2 p.m., and walking tour from 2 to 3 p.m.Cost is $12 plus tax and gratuity.
