Amanda Seigworth won her heat of the 400-meter hurdles and was the top Division II finisher Thursday on the opening day of the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Seigworth finished 22nd overall behind 21 Division I athletes, improving upon her season-best time of 1 minute, 0.86, which is only 0.11 of a second off the NCAA automatic qualifying time and it's the seventh-fastest time recorded by a D-II runner this spring.
Also competing for SRU was Crystal Burnick, who placed 33rd in the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:38.40.
