ADAMS TWP — A Beaver County man faces felony charges, accused by police of stealing tools valued at nearly $14,000 from a construction site.

Police say Corey D. Rayl, 43, of Beaver Falls broke into a storage trailer and lock box on the early morning of Feb. 15 where the Adams Area Fire District’s headquarters will be located on Route 228 near Pittsburgh Road.

Rayl was seen on surveillance cameras carrying a wet core drilling machine on an adjustable stand, stolen from the job site, according to court papers.

Other tools he stole included a chipping gun, a steel chop saw, a hammer drill combo kit, a compound miter slide saw, a cordless leaf blower, batteries, trim nailers and framing nailers, among others, the report says.

“There was a lot of stuff he (allegedly) stole,” said Robert Scanlon, township assistant police chief.

Scanlon said Rayl may have made multiple trips to the work site to take the tools.

Camera footage also showed Rayl’s vehicle was at the fire department the day before.

Rayl also had an arrest warrant in Beaver County for allegedly breaking into storage lockers and was arrested by Beaver Falls police.

A search warrant recovered clothes allegedly worn by Rayl on the day of the theft in the township and jewelry items possibly taken a burglary on Vanderbilt Drive.

Scanlon said some of the items were recovered at Rayl’s home.

Rayl faces four felony charges in total, including burglary, criminal trespassing, receiving stolen property and theft.

Rayl waived his charges Tuesday to county court, where he will be arraigned on May 23. He also was released on $5,000 bail.
