SRU softball gets split
Kirsten Brant and Breanna Tongel both hit a home run to propel the Slippery Rock University softball team to a 6-2 win over host Gannon in the second game of a doubleheader Friday afternoon.
The Rock fell in the first game 4-1.
Brant’s performance in the second game included a 3-for-4 effort at the plate and two runs scored.
The offense came in support of junior pitcher Shaylee Ianno, who earned the win after giving up just one run on two hits in five innings of work.
SRU’s lone run in the first game came when Brant singled home Geibel in the fifth inning.
The Rock (18-6, 5-3) will play at Edinboro Saturday before hosting Mercyhurst on Sunday.
